Dosa is a much loved south Indian breakfast recipe. Indian pancakes made out of rice and lentil batter.
Dosa Batter(read my post by clicking on this to learn how to prepare the batter)
Salt to taste
Oil to aid cooking of the dosa – 2-3 tbsp
Dosa tawa or pan(skillet)
Flat ladle to turn the dosa.
Rounded ladle to pour the batter
First add salt to the prepared batter and mix.
Heat the tawa/pan/skillet. Add a few drops of oil and wipe it over, with a paper towel. Now the skillet is ready.
Now at medium-high heat, pour a ladle full od batter in the center of the tawa. Gently move the ladle in smaller circles first, then spread the batter making the round motion outwards.
Spread 1 tsp of oil all round the edge of the dosa and few drops over it.
Once you notice the edges turning brown and the batter becoming dry on the top, flip it with a flat ladle. Again spread a tsp of oil around the edge. Once the underside is cooked and dry and starting to brown, the dosa is ready. Fold it and transfer it to the serving plate.
Serve with coconut chutney/sambar/red onion chutney or even any palya(dry south Indian side dish).
