Plain Rice in Microwave:
Rice can be cooked in many ways. Using a microwave not only saves on time, but also saves up precious cooking space on the hob!
Rice – 1 cup ( Basmati Rice)
Water – 1 and 1/2 cups
Firstly, wash and rinse the raw rice a couple of times with clean water.
In a microwave safe dish, add the rice and fresh water. Place in the microwave and cook on high power for about 18 min. Rice should be fully cooked . Cover it and allow settling time of a couple of minutes.
If not fully cooked, cook covered for another 1 -2 min.
Hot steaming rice is ready to serve!
But do note with different varieties of rice, cooking time will vary slightly
Method 2 :
To make the cooking process even quicker, the washed rice can be soaked for about 15 min.
Then cooked with fresh water in the microwave for 10-12 min. Rice is ready to serve!
