Top 10 Flat Bread Recipes on Easy Bites Online
Flat bread is a general term for any bread that is of course, cooked flat. From ‘Roti’ to ‘Naan’, there are various forms of Indian flat breads that are popular.
To describe these in a simple manner –
‘Phulkas’ are soft flat breads cooked directly over the fire after being half cooked using a skillet.
‘Paratha’ is a term given to flat breads cooked on the skillet, not directly on the fire.
‘Naan bread’, ‘Kulcha’ are leavened breads – with leavening agents such as yeast or baking powder/bicarbonate of soda being used. Traditionally cooked using a clay oven or ‘tandoor’. Since not every home happens to have a tandoor, we devise other means to cook them – such as over a skillet or using the conventional oven.
‘Paratha’ and ‘Kulcha’ can be cooked with added fillings too – which can be anything from spiced cooked mashed potato or other vegetables with spices to paneer (Indian cottage cheese)
